Dogs are one of the best parts of our human lives, certainly. We don’t judge, be it the attitude or look of someone, they’re just enjoying life as it comes. But sometimes, humans can’t see past the exterior of an animal and choose aesthetically pleasing four-legged friends. Fortunately, there are those who judge a pooch not by their looks but by their heart and that’s exactly what a couple did when they came across Brodie, Amanda Richter and her boyfriend Brad Ames.

This wonky-faced dog finally found his forever home!
Brodie is a German Shepherd / Border Collie mix, who was attacked at a fragile age of 13 days by his mother, alas. The attack disfigured the puppy’s face and Brodie is now partially blind as a result. But when Richter and Ames had turned their eyes on the dog, they fell in love.
As they visited Old MacDonald Kennels in Alberta, Canada, Brodie’s new owners couldn’t care less about his wonky features, they knew right there and then that Brodie was made for them and they adopted him on spot.
The new owners devoted a whole Instagram account to share the life of Brodie, and how much fun he had. In some videos he can be seen playing joyfully with a ball, in others he gets excited scratching of the head and it really seems like his looks don’t concern him. As fans requested that Brodie be seen as a puppy, the owners complied with the caption and posted a photograph:
“A lot of you guys asked what Brodie looked like as a puppy…..so here you go! Thanks to his old family for getting in touch and showing us just how sweet of a baby he was!”
Brodie was once adopted by another human before becoming a part of the family of Amanda Richter and Brad Ames. They had to send him back to the shelter though because they couldn’t keep up with the endless energy of the dog.
When Brodie’s images went viral and people swarmed into his social media account, owners of the dog were quick to post their thanks and encourage others to adopt animals such as Brodie:
“It’s not hard to see why everyone loves this little goofball as much we do lol. We hope that all this recognition will help others make the decision to rescue and adopt, especially those “less than perfect” animals out there! They deserve love as much as anyone. Thanks for all the love! Support your local rescues and shelters guys!”
