The RSPCA has cautioned that leaving your dog home alone during Christmas could leave them “unhappy and struggling to cope.” The warning comes as a new animal charity survey showed that 20% of owners thought it was fine to leave their pet unattended for more than a day.

Another 39 percent confessed leaving their dogs alone every day for seven hours or more–a move that contributes a “sense of sadness or loneliness” according to the RSPCA in our four-legged friends. The organization has now released advice on this issue-saying dogs should not be left alone at a time for more than four hours.
